This is not real news. The police have been there before and the demonstrators have been there before. But it’s the first time for me. I’ve heard a lot about fighting between the two earlier in december and now I wanted to try it myself. I changed to some old close and packed only the most necessary photogear. I parked my bike in a safe distance and ‘went in’.
For half an hour it was calm and then hell broke out. Bottles was flying and bricks were flying. A police man told me to get out of here. I did’nt want to risk anything and maybe get injured. And suddently I realize that my gear was not insured. A fact that made me move around even more careful.
The photo is from a period of relatively silence, and I took out in the middle of the street to get this obvious shot. The letters ‘love69′ is meaning ‘We love the youthhouse on nr. 69′ and the key to the fighting. Young activists are angry as the popular clubhouse has been legally sold by the city authority to a church, and not longer theirs to use. After a task force has cleared out the clubhouse, the young demonstrators took to the streets and sat fire to cars and waste bins. When they began to throw bricks and bottles the police decided to use teargas. And I went home…….
