I made this shot today for our employee magazine. The article is about a nationwide new policy on sexual harassment.

Canon Eos 5D, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM @ 1/20 sec. f/2.8, Speedlite 580.
I can’t say I was in a rush up to deadline, but I could’nt really think of a better set up. I know this is a cliche, but to me it has all the ‘ingredients’.
How would you do it if not like this?

I do a little advertising photography at work sometimes. I don’t have studio facilities, but try to make use of available light combined with a flash as a moderate supplement.
Here I sat the camera on a tripod and moved to the side when exposing. I used the light from a window behind me as the main light source. The flash was placed one meter to the right, set to go of with a remote and pointed upwards to bounce of the ceiling.

Canon Eos 5D, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM @ 1/15 sec. f/5.6, Speedlite 580, tripod.

Canon Eos 5D, EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro USM @ 1 sec. f/11, Speedlite 580, tripod.
What is your method when a studio is unavaiable?

This week I joined a colleague on a visit to a factory. While he did an interview I took a series of photograps of the welders and the hall they work in.
The lighting was a challenge, to say the least. But to ‘correct’ them to another result would be wrong in my opinion and I wanted to keep those red-ish colors. After a run through Photoshop, and converting them to the sRGB color space, I think they have come out pretty well.

The national tv- and radio broadcast company, Denmarks Radio (DR), is on the air with a new drama. It’s about a danish family and a doctor working for ‘Doctors Wihtout Borders (MSF)’. His role is build on a real person, chairman Søren Brix Christensen, from Doctors Without Borders in Denmark. I’m connected to this organisation and I do photographic work for free. Usually portraits, receptions and the like. This summer I made a portrait of Søren, and now it’s posted on Denmarks Radios website….with my name!
Follow the link below. I guess it’s there as long as the show is running.

Try and work with the blending mode in Photoshop. It can better the appearance and make the colors in a photograph look stronger.

Overlay (Text from Adobe Photoshop CS3 help menu)
“Multiplies or screens the colors, depending on the base color. Patterns or colors overlay the existing pixels while preserving the highlights and shadows of the base color. The base color is not replaced, but mixed with the blend color to reflect the lightness or darkness of the original color.”
The example show how the blending mode affect the photos.

Notice how the contrast appear more saturated in the lower part.

These days are not fun at all! As I wrote in the previous post a website has stolen a photo of mine. Now it has happened again! This time it is a danish dance instructor that I’ve photographed earlier this year during a national competition. Recently I walked up to her and told her to either remove the photo or put my name there with the photo. She said that she would do it and since we talked nothing has happened. It’s been more than two weeks now.
I don’t think the instructor (I don’t want to publish a name here) understand how important this is. I’ll be back again when I have news about this….hopefully soon!

I did a search recently for photos on Google.com for Bachata dance photos (Bachata is a passionate dance from The Dominican Republic). And what came up? My own photos of Bachata dancers – and that is nice. But on another website than mine! Not that nice! A tourist website had my picture posted from a danish national Bachata competition. And, for the record, without asking first. The couple on the photo is my dance instructor and her friend. I went to the ‘contact’ site for the website and wrote to them about my problem. And guess what? The form did’nt work! ‘There seems to be a problem with the email form. Try again later.’ Great!!
Have you ever tried something like this? Living in Denmark I can’t just walked up to them and talk about it.

Should I be proud or just let it go?

My friend, Marcin, took this photo of us tamden-parachuters with a rare camera type the other day. A camera with film! At first I thought: ‘Totally old-school!’ But now I’ve changed my mind. I like it now. The colors are funny, but the sky is nicely saturated and the late sun is captured very nicely.
Do you like it?
